WHAT IS THE DIGGER DASH & WHEN IS IT HAPPENING?
This event is an annual fun run tradition at Gold Rush that is hosted by the PTO. This year’s event will be held on Friday September 15th and students have the exciting opportunity to challenge themselves in a friendly competition to see how many laps they can run/walk around the school’s field. This is the ONLY fundraising activity for the school and 100% of the net proceeds directly benefit Gold Rush Elementary.
WHERE DO THE DONATIONS GO?
Each year the school’s senior leadership team reviews the priorities for where the fundraising would have the greatest impact for the students, faculty, and potentially the future needs for the school. This year (2023), Gold Rush would like to enhance the library space by making cozy book nooks and reading corners as well as engaging collaboration spaces.
WHY DOES THE FUNDRAISING GOAL VARY EACH YEAR?
Once the leadership team has agreed upon the priority for where the funding will go, a goal amount is then determined. Each year as the needs for the school changes, so does the amount of the fundraising goal.
HOW IS THE SUGGESTED AMOUNT PER FAMILY DETERMINED?
The final fundraising goal is divided equally among our Gold Rush families to provide guidance in giving as well as provide students with an attainable goal. Fundraising can seem overwhelming when looking at large dollar amounts, but breaking things down makes it manageable. It is truly just a guide and the final donation amount is always up to the family.
HOW CAN YOU DONATE?
There are multiple options for making donations. Donors wishing to use a credit card can pay through MYSCHOOLBUCKS.com or by utilizing the QR code. Those who prefer cash or check, may use the donation envelope sent home with each student. Please remember that no matter what the goal is, every donation is always GREATLY APPRECIATED (and may be tax deductible).
CAN I RUN/WALK WITH MY CHILD(REN)?
Sorry but only students and GRE staff are allowed on the designated track area.
ARE THERE OTHER WAYS TO HELP?
There are other ways you can help to ensure a successful event beyond financial contributions! Putting this on for the students and faculty requires a great amount of work from the PTO and school staff. Because this event runs for almost an entire school day, we need and always appreciate anyone who would like to volunteer to help on the day of the event. Available time slots for various activities throughout the day are highly flexible and how much, or little, time you volunteer is your choice!
